Media Literacy & Traditional literacy skills

Quote: Can students learn to recognize bias, track down sources, and cross-check information?

Reflection: If teachers are going to use media literacy they should be instructed on how to use the internet properly. Teachers must be able to understand and  facilitate through media literacy. If a teacher does not use proper steps in assuring correct data without copyright or plagiarism. If they choose to use someone else's work they must use proper citation's and attempt to teach the students the correct way of using information off the internet. If teachers do not use the proper steps, then how will a student be able to determine the correct way of citing information. Teacher's may not be aware of certain cites or whether those cites can be trusted or not. Therefore, teachers need to be sure they are using safe, reliable, and educational websites. Teachers should be able to come up with certain topics or activities that relate to the website they are using, students should be able to read it, learn about it, and reflect upon the topics.

How they relate:  This article talks about media literacy in a more collaborative way. It explains all the in's and out's and how it can be a positive way to learn.
